Shake Me Wake Me

(Insipired by reading C.S. Lewis ScrewTape Letters...Taking great liberties.km..)

Yes Wormwood You have done your job well and convinced your subject that he abides when he has become ever more religious and self focused. All the meanwhile he is believing that he is humble even more humble than most in his church and the sum of his life is all about God. He believes he grows in favor, stature and might when in fact unaware that he is powerless even impotent producing only a muffled noise. You have crafted wisely in that He only replicates his own likeness in his converts; the new disciples he makes are of his kind not of the one they profess to serve. They give their church and the pastor all the credit more and more. Your subject also believes he is spiritually mature, content and has a feeling of self entitlement in the rouse of receiving material success that he claims are of his blessed son-ship. Underlying and unknown to him he feels he has earned it by his faithfulness. Though he profess' grace we have won him over to the bondage of the law and he doesn't even know it. Now Plant the thought that he is called to be especially great for his god, a bigger church, a bigger harvest, a bigger vision...but keep his eyes distracted from our Bigger Foe.

The church applies herself to so many things but not the true life giving source. Empty prayer meetings, prayerless lives, dusty unread bibles, anemic half hearted worship, unrepented sin, stingy giving and self focused living. We think the solution is the next man made fad..the next talking head that had some supposed success in his church that we are eager to buy like a wrinkle cream. We all hop on the american church bandwagon looking for results...in our frustrations that nothing is 'happening' we try to give it all a push......the next new technique to breathe new life....the next cheerleading session , the next Pot Luck, the next meeting, the next the next,,,,the same old...But the only life giving source is found in the person of Jesus Christ....at the Cross,,,in His word,,,We will do anything and everything But simply seek Him....anything but denying self...taking up our cross and following Him.

Can You Hear us in here
Wake Us Up
Coma
Grace Feeding Tube
Mercy
You really do hear our cry
...We are half awakened but still asleep
we do not yet rise

  1. How can we find time to know the Lord when we're off from one fad to another? So it goes in the church of the "Next Wind of Doctrine" (and whoa betide those who wonder why the we're revolving from fad to fad.) Sounds like it might be a game-plan delivered up from the headquarters of Wormwood's "Father Below.

When Patriotism Becomes Worship and We Don’t Even Notice

What other people do is none of my business but for years I’ve been wrestling with some of the trends and level of politics and patriotism within the church. . But this article speaks my language it resonates with my spirit and shares my concerns. So for now, all Is at rest and Jesus He’s The only answer. Maybe someone out there feels the same way I do. I hope this post finds you and this article encourages your heart like it did mine. You aren’t crazy  Pray 🙏 That’s why you see it the way you do.
Walked into an office this morning playing over the speakers was the  60’s classic song , Bridge over Troubled Water, by Simon and Garfunkel. Love it. Just in time for the last half ending that crescendos n swells beautifully. Common song, heard it a gazillion times but this time I Sat quietly and really listened.  Like a Bridge over Troubled Water I will lay me down, Like a bridge over troubled water I will ease your mind.  No not a Christian song …..but worshipping Jesus regardless. Reminded again how Christ through his redemption on Calvary paid the ultimate price and  was Himself the bridge who laid Himself down so I can be at peace with God. I have all access to the throne of grace because of the blood of the Lamb shed for me. Once I was at enmity with God enemies antagonistic but now He calls me Friend.(Colossians 1:21, John 15:13) And because of His Amazing love, sacrifice and Resurrection I can live in His strength today, I can live with joy and hope in the m...

Just Thinkin’

A friend posted this meme below today and I it stirred some thoughts:  "Stop blaming women for falling for the wrong men. The truth is, some men pretend to be someone they're not from the start." My counselor years ago said something so wise: When people begin their relationships, they are on their best behavior. It takes time to see what people are really made of. It takes time to observe How people react when they’re under pressure , how they deal with their anger,  how they speak to people, how they talk about people. How they speak about the Lord. What do they do with their time and their money. What is the substantive character of that individual? Sometimes in the midst of the feelings and wanting to be in love, I think most of us wear rose colored glasses. We see people the way we wanna see them. But if we get past those Gush feelings and really hear their hearts it is there it really is ….who they truly down deep are. I look back on previous relationsh...
